One of the more popular questions I get is “Where can we go to take some great naked/kinky/erotic pictures around Las Vegas?”
First obstacle is that anything BDSM related is a legal No-No. Than you have the whole public nudity thing and innocent by-standards and gawkers getting caught up in your pictures and all that. Not Good.
So don’t take what follows as anything other than entertainment valued, tourist information. What you do with it and what happens to you is not our responsibility. But if anything good does come from it, please share it with us!
For the beginners or those not wanting to do “public exhibition”, I suggest to get outdoors, away from the city. My favorite is to shoot outdoors anyway. Natural light, fresh air, open spaces and the sunshine just makes working with the model more pleasurable.
Thankfully Vegas is surrounded by thousands of miles of open and amazing natural wonders that just calls out to the camera. It also gives great background (and cover) to nude photography. Many spots are rental car accessible and four wheel drive is not necessary.
If you go an hour north on I-15, we have Valley of Fire. Unique bleached rock and red sandstone formations, colors and geology makes this a popular place for sci-fi movies and Star Trek style television shows to shoot. That and it’s close to area 51…
Get into the valley and you will find hundreds of great locations that are also popular tourists spots. However, there are also some smaller roads off from the popular ones that offer excellent privacy. Or if you walk a little ways off the beaten path, you will find some amazing natural carvings, caves, overhangs and other spots perfect for BDSM style shots.
Leave Valley of Fire and head down along the Lake Mead Drive and find some out of the way roads and paths that will give more amazing shots. In addition to the lake shots, there are several killer rock formations along this roadway that make great pin-up style shots.
With the lake level down as low as it is now, what was once deep water, is now a deep cavern. Not to mention the lost villages and squatters camps fromt he 30′s that are now surfacing again. Great for the Goth or abandoned/kidnapped/abused look that is getting popular on the net today.
Head towards Laughlin and you will find the dry lake bed just down from RailRoad Pass Casino. I see a lot of shots online from this location. Plenty of room for everyone. Go a little further out on the flat plains and you will not be disturbed while having some great mountains in the backdrop. Across the highway from there are some large volcanic rock piles and trails that lead off into the unknown. Again, close to drive/walk, yet far enough away from onlookers.
Too far out? Close to the Strip is Red Rock Conservation Area. Pick up a hikers map at the visitors center and you will see a lot of little nooks and crannies just off the main path or main overlook that make great backdrops to nude models. Climb a boulder and be close to the vehicle, yet above any tourists that may wander by.
Just remember that when you are out in tourist areas or the parks, keep an eye on your surroundings and be ready to cover quickly. Have a blanket or clothing close by. Rangers have a sixth sense for things like this and like to make themselves known. Some rangers seem to think that anyone with a detachable lens, is a professional photographer. Thus, they think you need to get the commercial $$ permit to shoot in the parks.
I always keep a second memory card handy. So when I am not shooting the model, I will change cards out. If I am stopped and questioned, I can show Mr Ranger that we really are just out shooting the pretty flowers and colorful rocks. Smile nicely and act like a tourist…. Know nothing…
Have fun and if you need help, drop me a line…..
