I recently was in a car rental facility and saw an interesting sign. It warned those who were planning to rent a car to go to Burning Man, to remember to clean the car inside and out or face a $350 cleaning fee. Than proceeded to offer tips for keeping the car as clean as possible as well as what to clean.
Sort of took me by surprise that they admit that they know where you may be going. That even tho going “off road” is usually a reason to void the contract and inmpose huge fines. But I guess the idea of a $350 cleaning fee may be worth looking the other way.
Burning Man Car Cleaning Tips
- Stay on marked paths and road. AAA doesn’t do Burning Man!
- Keep the A/C on recirculate. This moves the air inside the car. Not bringing air from outside keeps the dust down and keeps the filters cleaner.
- Before returning the car, clean the car inside and out. The engine, the door frames, the trunk area, the upholstery, the dash. Clean Everything on and in the car!!
- Use a reputable car wash place and ask for the full package. Then check it over thoroughly again!
